JSW Steel zooms on robust growth in steel prod

JSW Steel ended the day at Rs 1134, stronger by Rs 110 or 10.8%, on the BSE. - Novartis gains on plans of Alcon buy - Godrej Properties commands 16% premium on debut - Markets gain for the third straight day - Sensex ends up 114pts - Sensex off day"s high; metal index up 3% - Sensex firm; Hindalco up 5% The stock had touched a high of Rs 1147 and a low of Rs 1031 during the day. A total of 1.21 million shares were traded on the counter as against the two-week average of 0.26 million. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------(Updated at 1131 am) JSW Steel has soared 6% on posting a 88% growth in quarterly crude steel production in Q3 FY10. The stock opened at Rs 1,031 and zoomed to a high of Rs 1,090. The scrip is now trading at Rs 1,087, up 6% from its previous close. The counter has clocked volumes of 4.11 lakh shares as compared to the two-week daily average traded volumes of 2.59 shares on the BSE. The production has increased from 7.82 lakh tonnes in Q3 FY 08-09 to 14.69 lakh tonnes in FY 09-10.
