Nokia complaints against Apple for patents violation

The cell phone maker alleged that "Apple infringes Nokia patents in virtually all of its mobile phones, portable music players, and computers". According to Nokia, the seven patents in this complaint relate to innovations that are now being used by Apple to create key features in its products in the area of user interface, camera, antenna and power management technologies. "These patented technologies are important to Nokia"s success as they allow better user experience, lower manufacturing costs, smaller size and longer battery life for Nokia products," the statement noted. Nokia"s General Manager (Patent Licensing) Paul Melin said its litigation in Delaware is about Apple"s attempt to free-ride on the back of Nokia investment in wireless standards, "the ITC case filed today is about Apple"s practice of building its business on Nokia"s proprietary innovation". Earlier this month, in response to Nokia"s lawsuit, Apple had filed a counter suit claiming that the mobile phone maker is infringing 13 Apple patents. In October, Nokia filed the lawsuit alleging that Apple is infringing its patents related to wireless data, security and encryption, among others.

ED claims evidence of FDI law violations by Emaar MGF
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) today claimed to have found evidence of ‘large-scale’ violations of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) guidelines by real-estate major Emaar MGF in purchase of land. During its searches carried out at 13 premises of the group on Thursday, the ED also claimed to have recovered about Rs 9 crore in cash, two kg of gold and foreign currency worth Rs 5 lakh. Stating that Emaar MGF had availed more than Rs 6,000 crore of FDI in the last four years, the ED said in a press statement that the seized documents indicated “large-scale violations of FDI guidelines.”
