US markets ends higher on strong retail news

US markets rose in light volume on Friday to achieve a second straight week of gains as strong retail news reinforced hopes for strong sales in the holiday season. - Trade deficit in US increases by most since 1999 - TCS to form business alliance with Dow - US markets drop on energy shares - Credit downgrades hit record high - Elite B-school students back in radar of finance cos - US markets gain on strong data, growth forecast The Dow Jones industrial average added 73 points, to end at 10,270.47.The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 19 points to close 2,167. The Indian ADRs ended on a positive note. Patni Computers advanced 3% to $21.85 and HDFC Bank soared 2.5% to $132.08, respectively. MTNL and ICICI Bank ended flat at $37.97 and $38.88, respectively. Genpact on the other hand was marginally down at $13.75.
